Last Dollar Scholarship Program

Partners In Education’s “Last Dollar Scholarships”, are designed to provide funds to those students who have financial need after applying for other sources of assistance. Other sources can include, but are not limited to federal, state and institutional loans; federal, state and institutional grants and/or scholarships and any other form of financial assistance considered a “resource” under the Higher Education Act of 1956, as amended.

Partners In Education will make scholarships available starting at $500.00/year to eligible students enrolled in an accredited institution of post-secondary education. These scholarships may be renewable, depending on student need (determined annually), program status and funding ability.

Students who seek last dollar assistance through a Partners In Education Program Advisor are eligible to apply for the Last Dollar grant funding based on the following guidelines:

  • Students must be residents in the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and have, or will have, a high school diploma or its equivalent within the year of original application;
  • Students must demonstrate unmet need as determined according to federal methodology used in the federal needs analysis calculation
  • Students must first apply for financial aid available from federal, state and institutional sources and submit record of proof, if required;
  • Student must have a high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better, or a minimum ACT score of 18 (results will need to be submitted to Partners In Education);
  • Students must enroll full-time at an accredited or qualified post-secondary institution;
  • Students hereby authorize Partners In Education to release any pertinent information, otherwise governed and secured by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act(FERPA), to parties with a vested interest in scholarship funding to Partners In Education, the student or the institution without question, comment or repercussion;
  • Student must understand that payment of such last dollar funds will be paid directly to the institution, not the student;
  • All scholarship decisions will be made by the executive Directors of Partners In Education or the appropriately appointed body and , as such, are final and subject to review or appeal;
  • Students who fail to complete a term in which they received the Partners In Education last dollar funding, without prior written approval from Partners In Education or its authorized representatives shall be required to pay back such funds.

Last Dollar Application process:
Complete and return the Partners In Education Last Dollar Scholarship Application by May 14, 2010. The Application shall be returned to:

  • Submit the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA), referred to as the Student Aid Report (SAR) in all subsequent transactions;
  • Copy of Award Letter from the college;
  • Senior year transcripts;
  • Students and their respective institutions will be notified of last dollar funding status by June 30th;
